The latest news about Taliban is the allegation of Sami ul Haq with Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, new leader of Taliban. The allegation of Sami ul Haq, having one of the most prestigious religious schools in Pakistan, is of great importance.

Three years ago, Sami ul Haq, on ISI’s recommendation, had the undertaking of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC). One of its objectives was to block NATO especially the United States fuel convoys which moved from Karachi to Afghanistan. Some members of this council who were responsible for attacking the fuel convoys were retired General Hamid Gul, former DG ISI, Colonel Imam, former ISI officer and former Pakistan’s consul general in Herat, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, leader of Pakistan’s Jamaat-ud-Dawa who was accused of 2008 Mumbai attack.

Following abovementioned facts, the allegation of Sami ul Haq can prove the management and leadership of ISI over Taliban, led by Mullah Akhtar Mansoor. It stands to reason that allegation of Sami ul Haq with Mullah Akhtar Mansoor can pave the way for Pakistan’s support for him.

On the other hand, Sami ul Haq has impacts over Haqqani School as well as having close relationship with its leader; therefore, the allegation is between Haqqani network and Mullah Akhtar Mansoor and from now on, they will have joint cooperation with each other.

Certainly, the union between Haqqani network and Taliban led by Mullah Akhtar Mansoor will have some serious impacts on Afghanistan, creating some horrible problems for this war-torn country.

What should be considered in this very moment of Afghanistan is tactical change of American strategy in Afghanistan. After 9/11, United States was not eager to let Pakistan intervene in Afghanistan’s events. However, United States attacked the hideout of Bin Laden without informing Pakistan Army as well as ISI and. After they arrested and moved him to an unknown place, apparently he was killed.

But now United States has cooperated with Pakistan Army, letting them direct Taliban in Afghanistan; in other words, Pakistan security service has tried to direct Afghanistan events for United States and Pakistan benefit. The influence of Pakistan over Afghanistan has invariably had some security crises. At present, such a crisis will not only affect Afghanistan but also all regions including Central Asia.
