The Munich Security Conference (MSC), co-hosted by the MSC and the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies, was held in Tehran on Saturday morning.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier along with a number of foreign ministers and high-ranking officials from various countries attended the gathering to exchange views on the latest developments in the Middle East region.
The participants discussed on the crisis in Syria, which began in 2011, as well as Tehran’s global and regional role following the landmark nuclear deal clinched between Iran and six world powers.
Among the participants in the gathering were Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, and Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, the UN deputy special envoy for Syria.
The MSC is a significant annual conference on international security policy, which has been held since 1963.
