In a meeting with visiting Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban in Tehran on Tuesday, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani received a 175-year old ancient map as a gift.

Iran’s vice president for communications and information Parviz Esmaeli said on Tuesday that the old map dates back to 1840 AD (over 175 years ago) and is regarded as a very significant map among Hungary’s national documents

The old map indicates Iran’s territory covering the names of neighboring countries, Esmaeli wrote on his Instagram page.

“Caspian Sea to the north and Persian Gulf to the south which are manifestation of Persia have been mentioned in the map”, he added.

The ancient map also demonstrates the then life style of the Iranian people and cities of Tehran and Ray which were center of politics, agriculture and economy, Esmaeli said.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Orban is in Iran for talks with senior officials. The Hungarian premier also met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei on Tuesday.
