The Iranian government has appointed Homeira Rigi, the governor of Qasr-e Qand in southeastern Iran, as its next Ambassador to Brunei in eastern Asia.
Rigi is the third woman to serve as an ambassador, following Marzieh Afkham and Parvin Farshchi, who were appointed as Irans ambassador to Malaysia and Finland.
Afkham was a carrier diplomat and Farshchi a deputy head of Irans Environmental Protection, Dolat.ir reported.
Rigi was the first Sunni female governor in Iran.
