Iran Defeats World Champion Poland at Azadi Stadium

Iran defeated the World Champion Poland at a home match in FIVB World League attended by 12,000 people.

On Friday night, Iran’s national volleyball team defeated its guests 3-2 at Tehran’s Azadi stadium.

Iran claimed its third win at home, this time in a thrilling fifth-setter (25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-16, 15-11).

At the end of the ninth week, Iran is in the third spot of Pool B with 15 points, below the US with 20 points and Poland with 17. Russia is at the bottom of the table with 2 points.

The Iranian volleyballers will take on Poland once again at the Azadi stadium on Sunday.

Poland had defeated Iran in two 2015 World League matches it hosted on June 5 and 6.

Previous week, Iran defeated the United States twice 3-0 at home.
