Iran Air said it signed a deal on Sunday to buy 80 passenger planes from U.S. aircraft maker Boeing , state news agency IRNA reported.
The agency quoted Farhad Parvaresh, the head of the country’s flag carrier, as saying that the 10-year deal included 50 Boeing 737 aircraft and 30 777 planes.
Earlier in the year, Boeing confirmed it had received an order for 100 jetliners from the Islamic Republic, its first deal since the country’s 1979 revolution.
The news comes as U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill in November that would block the sale of commercial aircraft to Iran, which would also affect sales by U.S. firm Boeing.
