Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed his country’s nuclear capabilities in an exclusive interview with NBC’s David Gregory, insisting that “Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons”
He said: “We don’t see any benefit in Iran developing a nuclear weapon,”
Zarif went on to say that nuclear weapons would not empower Iran, but reduce its influence in the region.
He added that nuclear weapons like the ones held by Pakistan, the United States, Russia and Israel have not made those countries immune to violence.
Iranian Foreign Minister also said that Iran is bigger, stronger, more prosperous and more developed than its neighbors, and that it does not need nuclear weapons.
Zarid said nuclear weapons “or no amount of military power makes you safe,” adding, “So we need to live in a different paradigm. And that’s what we are calling for.”
