Iran’s national volleyball team have served Russia’s title-toting Olympians their second back-to-back defeat, taking on the giants in the fifth week of FIVB Volleyball World League 2015.
The Sunday clash saw Iran trouncing Russia in three successive sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-21) in Kazan, Russia, bagging a total of seven points, Press TV reported.
Mojtaba Mirzajanpour and Shahram Mahmoudi got 17 points each for Iran. Maxim Mikhaylov was the top scorer for the Russia with 16 points.
Russians’ new defeat comes while the London 2012 Olympic Games champions were reeling from their Saturday routing, when they conceded to the white-clad Iran 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23).
