Iranians commemorate Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day by donating flowers to their fellow citizens.
August 5 was designated as IslamicHumanRights and HumanDignity Day, since it is the anniversary of the adoption of the Cairo Declaration of Human Rights in Islam, a living document of 25 articles that has had a considerable impact on improving the international humanrights discourse and promoting the values of human rights around the world.
The day was proposed by Iran as Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day and unanimously endorsed by the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the 35th meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Kampala, Uganda.
