Iran, China railway soon to be inaugurated
The Gorgan-Incheh Borun railway will be inaugurated next month, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development told Realiran website.
“This railway which is projected to link Iran with Russia, CIS countries and china, will be inaugurated in Ordibehesht 1391 (April-May 2013) attended by the presidents of Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan”, Ahmed Sadeghi added
The total length will be 904 kilometers, of which 700 kilometer will be in Turkmenistan and 120 kilometers will be in Kazakhstan, he said.
The new route will open the European and Asian countries access to Central Asia and the Gulf by the shortest and economically advantageous route.
Three times shorter than the route through the Suez Canal, the new railway will play a significant role in creating new social infrastructure in the desert regions near the Caspian Sea and the northern territories, from Bereket to the border with Kazakhstan.
In order to develop the transport system of the country, Ali Nikzad, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development announced that more than 15 thousand kilometers of roads will be built this year (1392) across Iran.
