The historic city of Shiraz was the host to the round 3rd of FIA Middle East Rally Championship candidate event on 7th-8th May 2015.
The Shiraz Rally 2015 kicked off from the front of the historical Quran Gate in Shiraz on Thursday evening and competitors tackled a total of 248.4 km over the two days.
Shiraz International Rally consisted of 14 special stages set and the total distance was split equally between the two days and spread over 6 stages on day one and 8 stages on the second and final day.
A number of the top Persian Gulf champion drivers took part in the event including , Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah and UAE’s Sheikh Khalid Al Qasemi.
According to the report, Qatar driver Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah won Friday the Shiraz International Rally.
Al Attiyah led his compatriot Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari. Al Kuwari had led after the end of the first day, with 36.4 seconds separating the two Qatari drivers. UAE’s Sheikh Khalid Al Qasemi was in third place more than a minute behind the leader.
Shiraz Rally is an important stop on the agenda of Middle East Championship for Rallies and a new addition to the future of the championship, since Shiraz is distinguished by the geographical diversity compared to other rounds of the championship, said Al Attiyah, while congratulating the role of Iran Motor Sport Club in organizing the event.
